Fairness, Validity and Security

Fairness

The LPAT was designed to be fair to persons from various cultural backgrounds and especially to persons from various socioeconomic groups. Other programmer aptitude tests on the market cannot make this claim and are flawed in this regard.

Validity

The validity of this test has been investigated and substantiated in several ways. It has been shown to identify the high and low performing employees in an IT department and in students in IT courses in universities, colleges, and technical schools. It has also been tested with students in liberal arts classes in colleges and universities. And very importantly, systematic inspection of the test by job experts shows it measures the skills required by and reflects tasks commonly done by applications programmers and analysts.

Security

A test used for personnel selection decisions should be secure. For this reason the LPAT test questions are presented in a paper booklet rather than over the web. Only the test answer sheet is online. The test is scored on our server and results sent immediately to a prearranged email address.
